Atlanta is an incredible asphalt jungle. Between the sights, the food, and the attractions, there is always something to do. As such, getting around the vast town can seem like a daunting task. Georgia is more than happy to accommodate its visitors with so many ways to easily navigate the city.

Walking

Walking is an excellent way to get around Atlanta. Many residents and visitors consider the fair city to be extremely pedestrian-friendly. In other words, walkers have many specified safe spaces, such as sidewalks and crossing lanes. Additionally, walking allows visitors to truly experience Atlanta. There are huge skyscrapers and monuments that can only be seen by taking the time to sightsee. Speaking of things to see, be sure to always dog watch and birdwatch as well! You never know what you may witness in a busy place. Walking may present its own set of challenges as a way of transportation, of course. While you take in the sights of Atlanta, make sure you follow pedestrian safety rules. Keep an eye out for posted safety signs, and be aware of what is happening nearby. Keeping a great pair of walking shoes and staying safe will ensure a pleasant experience in Atlanta.

The Subway

For a budget-friendly mode of transportation, consider taking the subway. As the seventh-busiest rail system in America, Atlanta’s subway travels throughout the city with over 30 stops. Passengers are sure to get wherever they need to go with MARTA (the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). Whether you’re trying to get to a Falcons game or a catch a show at the Fox Theatre, the subway system has you covered. As with any convenient transportation method, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. For example, the subway trains are often crowded as many people appreciate the convenience of MARTA. Passengers may also have to expect train delays during the journey.

Driving

With all the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, it’s no surprise that driving is the number-one way to travel. Residents and visitors alike have access to the major highways for easy travel through the city. For example, Interstate 285 creates a loop around Atlanta. The other major highways, which include I-20, I-75, and I-85, all connect to I-285 so that drivers can easily reach their destinations. Of course, to maintain quality highways, there are toll roads in certain places, such as Interstate 400. Many drivers never encounter tolls, however. To avoid having to keep spare change handy, some frequent travelers invest in a Georgia Peach Pass, which is simply an electronic toll collection system that allows drivers to use express lanes.

Rideshares

Rideshares, such as Uber and Lyft, are another ideal way to get around in Atlanta. These taxi-like services are popping up throughout major cities, and it’s no wonder why. For starters, these services are typically cheaper in price than a classic taxicab. Additionally, rideshares are incredibly convenient. You only need to wait for a few minutes, and you’re on your way. With in-app reviews on drivers, consumers also gain a sense of comfort and security during the ride.

In short, transportation methods are aplenty throughout Atlanta. Whether visitors choose to walk, drive, take a rideshare or jump on the subway, the options are vast. People are sure to find their ideal mode of travel to experience the great city of Atlanta.
