5 Must Haves To Bring At The Jazz Fest

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, “Jazz Fest” is where thousands of musicians, cooks and craftspeople welcome 400,000 visitors each year.  It features unforgettable music on multiple stages, delicious food options showcasing Louisiana cuisine and artisans around the world who demonstrate and sell their work.

If you already have your tickets to the Jazz Fest don’t get too excited yet.  To make sure that you’ll have an enjoyable and comfortable time during this music festival season, make sure you bring these five must have items when you go to the New Orleans Jazz Fest.

Dress appropriately.  The weather in New Orleans during the Jazz Fest weekends promises rains and storms.   Dress in layers so you can take a layer off when you get warm and put it back on when you get cold.   Bring rain gear.    Don’t be caught without rain protection and be forced to pay for flimsy ponchos that do not offer the protection you need.  Wear comfortable shoes since you’ll do a lot of walking.  If you want to protect your feet from muddy horse track due to overnight rain— yes, the Jazz Fest is held at a horse racetrack— bring rain boots!

Remember to hydrate yourself.  It will be humid and warm.  You are allowed to bring bottles of water when you attend the Jazz Fest.  Take advantage of that.  If you don’t want the heavy load, bring a water bottle you can easily refill throughout the day.

Wear your sunglasses.  Look stylish while protecting your eyes from the sun’s glare.

Cover and protect your head.  Wear a hat, scarf or bandana.

Bring a backpack or just the right size purse that can hold all your essentials.  Don’t bring a large bag that might be cumbersome or carry a bunch of bags that will slow you down.  Stow water, sunscreen, lip balm, poncho and money in your bag.

If you remember to bring all these things then you’ll surely enjoy your time at the Jazz Fest.  Bring an open mind.  You’ll see, smell, taste and hear new things everywhere.  Take in everything.  Come hungry for great food.  Enjoy the experience and create a memorable time!
